Dear Colleagues,

One of the contributing factors for a tourist destination to be chosen often associated with its accessibility, which can be diminished with the arise of traffic issues. Issues such as traffic delay (e.g., resulted from inefficient of cycle length of traffic signal), safety concern (e.g., lack of proper infrastructures to ensure the safety of road users such as restrictive sight distance due to improper vegetation control), and lack of accessibility to adjacent land (e.g., public transport) would reduce the chances for tourists to explore the full potential of a destination. Additionally, issues like traffic congestion would attribute to the increase in pollution and noise, which eventually will affect the overall ambiance of a place. These issues would affect various stakeholders in the tourism industry such as hotels, restaurants, and small business owners among others. In recent years, Internet of Things (IoT) becomes popular in the academic sector, particularly within the transportation area. By incorporating IoT in this area, this might help to mitigate the traffic issues arise within the tourism sector.

Thus, we are interested to gather studies related to smart transportation that can elevate the tourism industry, by solving any traffic-related issues. These issues are not limited to traffic congestion, transportation safety, and accessibility. Therefore, research articles and reviews in this area of study are welcome.

We eagerly anticipate receiving your contributions.
