Section Collection Information

Dear Colleagues,

Agricultural activity has changed over the years from being a simple production activity to a multi-functional sector. This caused agricultural information to become one of the most important factors in agriculture that interacts with land, labor, capital and managerial ability. Therefore, there is a need to emerge, develop and improve of information systems to collect, transform, and integrate the information related to agricultural activities. Agricultural information systems can also be a contributing factor towards the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for increasing agricultural productivity and income of the farmers. These systems provide knowledge that is used by agricultural producers and decision makers to make better decisions and superiority in market opportunities. Some of other terms are often used in conjunction with Agricultural information systems such as Farm Management Information Systems, precision agriculture, and E-Agriculture that refers to the need to transfer knowledge and experience in the use of ICT in agriculture.

Thus, we are interested in the original research contributions in the framework of information systems and their applications with following fields:

  • Satellite, aerial and ground-based remote sensing and their applications

  • Precision farming equipment and technology including Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and other state of the art technologies for collecting and analyzing information related to the agricultural sector

  • Decision Support Systems (DSS)

  • Farm Management Information Systems and the related technologies that facilitate the storing and processing of farm-related data for agricultural activities and also the supporting activities

  • Modern information and communication technologies (ICT), such as cloud computing and Internet of Things (IoT) in agriculture to increase agricultural productivity as smart farming.

  • Digital data processing

Research articles and reviews in this area of study are welcome.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
