In our journal Pollution Study, a special issue is calling for papers about light pollution. 

100 years ago, people could walk outside at night even in a city seeing the Milky Way galaxy arch across the night sky. Thousands of stars inspired hundreds of artists, leaving us valuable cultural heritage. However, the excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial light consequenced by rapid urbanization has washed out starlight in the night sky, interfering with astronomical research, disrupting ecosystems, harming health, and wasting energy. 

Several main types of light pollution include light trespass, over-illumination, glare, light clutter and satellite flare. So many factors will lead to light pollution such as poor urban planning, overpopulation, irresponsible excessive use, smog or clouds, lights from vehicles, lights from buildings or streetlamps and downtown areas.

In this special issue, we�d like to focus on light pollution. Papers on the following topics are being called for: Causes of light pollution, effects of light pollution, ways to reduce light pollution, the relationship between smart cities and light pollution, light pollution map, etc. These topics are suggested but not limited to.
