Special Issue Information

In our journal Eco cities, a special issue is calling for papers about double carbon policy and Chinese characteristics.

Carbon neutral or low carbon is a key feature or basic rule of an eco-city. Low carbon means less carbon dioxide. This concept is a leading concept in modern society, like low carbon economy, low carbon products and low carbon environment. In this issue, we will precisely focus on low carbon. A low-carbon economy system is built considering the economy, society, energy and environment subsystem.

China is a special country with the largest population in the world. China has become the worlds largest carbon dioxide emitter and energy consumer, with serious environmental problems. Therefore, low-carbon economy has become one of the best choices for its development. Recently, China has promised to reduce its carbon emission intensity to 6065% of 2005 levels and achieve peak carbon emissions by approximately 2030. All the efforts are aimed at the low carbon economy transition of the whole of China and making China a leader in global climate governance.

We want to collect papers on the Chinese and non-Chinese perspectives of Chinese characteristics. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: direct and indirect drivers of CO2 emissions, the relationship between low-carbon transition and economic growth, the transformation of energy subsystems, Chinese low-carbon policies, and the construction of eco-city from Chinese characteristics, etc.
