Special Issue Information

In our journal Eco cities, a special issue is calling for papers about urban sustainability.

In modern society, we are getting pretty familiar with a word: Sustainability. Broadly, sustainability refers to the ability to maintain some substances or support some processes continuously as time goes by. Here in the journal Eco Cities, sustainable development centers on cities. Urban sustainability is defined as a process by which measurable improvements in short-term and long-term human well-being can be achieved through environmental, economic, and social actions. Living in a sustainable city can improve your health and put money back in your wallet. Using green energy can reduce your homeowners insurance, as can living in an area with eco-based infrastructure. While cities can adopt many green features, to become a truly eco-city they will need to address the social, environmental and economic impacts of sustainability. We can improve the construction of these facilities to achieve sustainable development, such as public transportation, walkable and bikeable neighborhoods, vehicle charging stations, solar farms, green buildings, food production, accessible public resources, water conservation, public green spaces, waste management, etc.

In this issue, we welcome original research and review articles. We would like to receive as many constructive comments and suggestions from scholars on sustainable cities as possible. Potential topics are suggested but not limited to urban sustainability definition, economical sustainability in eco-cities, social well-being and health, the principles to promote urban sustainability, detailed cases, etc.
