In our journal Cardiac and Cardiovascular Research, a special issue is calling for papers about cardiac and cardiovascular complications in COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been lasting for about three years. It makes a huge impact on all aspects of our lives. There is no doubt the most direct influence is on health. COVID19 is a respiratory disease with common symptoms of fever, cough, tiredness, and losing taste or smell. For elderlies and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer, COVID19 is more likely to develop serious illness, even causing death. 

In this special issue, we are calling for papers focusing on cardiac and cardiovascular influences of COVID-19. The acute cardiovascular complications of COVID-19 have been well reported, including myocardial injury, myocarditis, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, dysrhythmias, and venous thromboembolic events. 

Survivors of COVID19 risk higher cardiovascular disease. We are interested in articles examining the association between COVID-19 and long-term cardiovascular outcomes and researching the interaction between current therapies for COVID-19 and cardiovascular medications. Of course, other topics related to cardiovascular and COVID19 are extremely welcome in this special issue as well.
