Section Collection Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the Section Catalytic Materials.
Solid materials can play an important role in the development and protection of the planet and humanity. Some chemical processes are only effective via catalytic procedures in different areas such as human wealth, social development, and environmental protection. These areas include the preparation of valuable chemical compounds, production of clean fuels, capture and conversion of environmental pollutants, and valorization of wastes, among others. All these areas of investigation are of high interest to the scientific community, industrial sector, and society. From the industrial point of view, catalysts play a crucial role since these are involved in the production of over 80 percent of all manufactured products. Catalytic materials are indispensable to initiate or accelerate a reaction while not changing chemically or physically. Their morphology, thickness, shape, porosity, chemical composition, elemental distribution, particle size, etc, are important properties to achieve activity and selectivity in the chemical processes. Improvements in the material design and incorporation of functional groups are crucial to achieving high production yields in the pharmaceutical or chemical industries and also for developing cleaner fuel technologies and removing environmentally harmful processes.
This section collection of catalytic materials pretends to bring the recent advancements in materials synthesis and technologies to the design of novel and smart catalysts used in the field of catalysis. Nanomaterials, supporting materials, and membranes show an important role in chemical processing. A discussion of the skills needed to conciliate advanced structures, sustainable preparation procedures, robustness, and catalytic efficiency is here aimed. An important contribution will also be offered by the deep discussion of the main challenges required for large-scale catalytic materials preparation and industrial application implementation. This will help the need to conciliate industrial and academic research knowledge. In general, this collection pretends to offer an overview of the fascinating world of catalytic materials and their challenges. The expectancy is that advanced materials will contribute to meeting more sustainable technologies to form a greener future.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
