Dear Colleagues,

Materials are promising for the synthesis and design of modern devices in many technological fronts. Concept of designing and fabricating new and exotic micro and nano materials relating to structral, optical, electronic and spintronics applications dated back to the original work.

However, the modern need for producing exotic new materials having desired specific properties are always a primary challenge for scientist and engineers. Preparation of technologically important and viable micro and nano materials comprising of different oxides, carbides, nitrides and sulphides for different applications have broadened the scope of materials research worldwide and encouraged to study materials in the form of single crystal, thin film and multilayers. With the advent of modern material processing technology, it is possible to prepare specific materials with desired dimension having density nearer to theoretical value including its original properties required for different mechanical, tribological, structural and electronic applications instead of opting the use of its single crystal which are difficult to grow into desired shape in different dimension. Most of the recent researches on materials have been dedicated towards synthesis, processing, its characterization, modelling and applications. The more familiar study for an engineer, researcher or scientist deals with the various characteristics, structureproperty relationships, performance as well as the low cost processing techniques of materials.

This volume intends to collects contributions to the processing, structure, properties, performance correlations and summary concept maps for different materials. The chapters in this collection would be useful for a wide range of audience: undergraduate and post-graduate students, industrial professionals, materials scientists and researchers, and manufacturers. This collection will provides the reader with a wide range of information in the interdisciplinary subject area of materials in all experimental and theoretical aspect of advanced materials in the fields of science and technology.

You are welcome to submit your recent work on micro/nanostructure materials.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
