Section Collection Information

Dear colleagues,

Cities have been increasingly discussed in the literature. The reason for this is that they have housed an increasing number of inhabitants and, consequently, are responsible for consuming a rising amount of resources and energy. As a consequence, it has also generated increasing amounts of waste, which need to be properly disposed of in order not to collapse the system. At the forefront of this scenario is governance, responsible for equalizing the management and distribution of these resources to enable stakeholder satisfaction, in a sustainable way for all involved. Thus, a good governance structure is necessary, concerned with the adequate planning of the growth of these urban agglomerations, taking into account sustainable development in all aspects of the SDGs. Citizen participation, through different mechanisms for instance, digital platforms, has also been studied since the positive result of government actions depends on equally positive citizen involvement.

This Section Collection invites researchers to submit original research articles or review articles that address the challenges and opportunities associated with city governing. We welcome contributions that focus on the development of innovative policies, strategies, and technologies that can support effective city governing.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
