Dear Researchers,

Climate change is causing a slew of problems for urban tourism. During intense heatwaves, rising temperatures may make cities less appealing to tourists, impede outdoor activities, and put a strain on resources such as water and energy. Furthermore, rising floods and sea-level rise endanger coastal cities, potentially displacing populations and destroying infrastructure. To solve these issues and promote sustainability in tourist destinations, stakeholders must work on decreasing tourism's environmental effect. This involves tracking and reducing the carbon footprint of tourism activities, building green infrastructure, and improving destination resilience. Community participation is also critical to ensuring that local inhabitants benefit from tourism while protecting their environment and culture. Government assistance in the form of a comprehensive policy framework is critical for aligning urban tourism with sustainable practises and ensuring the sustainability of these essential locations. Climate change poses a severe danger to urban tourism locations globally. As cities become more popular tourist destinations, the burden on resources and the environment increases. Sustainable solutions are essential for ensuring the long-term survival of urban tourism. We look at the multiple difficulties of climate change and urban tourism, as well as crucial measures for increasing sustainability in tourist destinations.

Urban tourism has witnessed unprecedented growth, becoming a cornerstone of economic development and cultural exchange in cities around the world. However, this rapid expansion has also brought forth critical challenges associated with climate change. The Smart Tourism Journal invites submissions for a special issue on "Climate Challenges and Urban Tourism: Navigating Sustainable Solutions for Tourist Destinations."

Scope and Focus:

The special issue aims to explore the multifaceted relationship between climate change and urban tourism, with a focus on sustainable solutions for tourist destinations. We seek original research papers, case studies, and reviews that contribute to a better understanding of:

The impact of climate change on urban tourist destinations.

Strategies for enhancing sustainability in urban tourism.

Best practices for minimizing the carbon footprint of tourist activities.

Resilience-building measures to address climate-related challenges in tourist hotspots.

Community engagement and stakeholder collaboration in sustainable urban tourism.

Policy frameworks and regulations promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Join us in addressing the crucial intersection of climate change and urban tourism. Share your research, insights, and innovative solutions to help shape a more sustainable future for tourist destinations.

So, research articles, reviews and studies in this area of study are welcome. We look forward to your contributions!
